Haiti participate at the Cultures & Friendship Fair in Mexico


For the fifth consecutive year, Haiti participated in the great Cultures & Friendship Fair [from May 17 to June 1], organized by the city of Mexico City (over 20 million inhabitants), which this year has seen the participation of 87 countries.

The Haiti booth was a huge success, welcoming each day a The Hatit booth was a huge success, crowd of visitors, who were able to discover our culture, our heritage, tourism potential and enjoy our delicious cuisine before returning satisfied with another image of Haiti, that of the "Pearl of the Antilles".

For the first time, the Cultures & Friendship Fair was held on the huge Zocalo square (large as 15 football fields or 3 times the Red Square in Moscow). Located in the historic center of Mexico City, it's on the Zocalo square that are traditionally held the great cultural, sporting and political events. The organizers visibly pleased, estimate that during the 15 days, the Cultures & Friendship Fair hosted several million Mexican and foreign visitors.

For the Ambassador of Haiti to Mexico, Guy Lamothe, the presence of Haiti at this kind of event helps promote the culture of the country "The Embassy of Haiti in Mexico worked closely with representatives of the community so that that participation in the Cultures & Friendship Fair in Mexico is a success."

Guy Lamothe recalled that this initiative, which was originally a fair of embassies, has become over the years a space of convergence and interaction between nations and peoples, an opportunity to discover the culinary art, culture and crafts of the participating countries.

During two weeks, hundreds of activities were offered to visitors including: international masked parade, music, dance, theater, film, lectures, book presentations...
